About Us

We offer affordable treatments on a sliding scale. The purpose of the sliding scale is to separate the issues of money and treatment. Everyone pays $15-$35, and you decide how much to pay for each treatment.
We recommend regular frequent treatments. Acupuncture is most effective when done frequently. In China it’s not uncommon for a patient to receive treatment daily until symptoms are alleviated. But in the U.S., where a private acupuncture treatment typically costs $65-$150, only a wealthy few can afford this. Community acupuncture on a sliding scale allows you to come as frequently as you need.
We treat in a group setting. The community acupuncture model gets back to the roots of how acupuncture has been practiced in Asia for thousands of years - in a group setting. Patients lie in comfortable recliners, fully clothed, in a quiet, soothing community room. There is a beauty to a group setting. Have you ever felt the power of being in a group? In church? In a yoga class? At a high school football game? Group energy is inspiring, and group healing energy will inspire you to get better faster.
We believe in being part of the community. Every patient receives the same level of high quality care. An affordable acupuncture clinic means that more people have the choice to use acupuncture for health care, ultimately building a stronger and healthier community.
We provide affordable acupuncture and still make a living. East Nashville Community Acupuncture is NOT a non-profit organization. We don’t receive government money or grants or private donations. We are a sustainable business model that offers a service that people need and can afford. As long as we have enough patients paying along the sliding scale, we stay in business. We offer affordable, effective treatments on a sliding scale. The purpose of the sliding scale is to separate the issues of money and treatment. Everyone pays between $15-$35, and you decide what you can afford, no questions asked. Our mission is to provide exceptional care and make it accessible to as many people as possible.

We recommend regular frequent treatments, as needed. Acupuncture is a process. In Korea and China, a typical treatment protocol for a chronic condition can be 2-3 treatments a week for a couple months. Most of our patients do not need that much acupuncture, and although we see some amazing improvements after one session, many people require a course of treatments, rather than a single one. Community acupuncture is set up to facilitate this process so that you may come in as often as needed to get better and stay better.

Treating patients in a community setting has many benefits: it allows you to come in as often as you need to, it's easy for friends and family members to come in for treatments together and many people find it comforting to be sharing a healing space.
We are a part of the community. Affordable acupunture means that more people have the choice to use acupuncture for their health care. Healthier individuals help build healthier communites. We are a sustainable business model that offers a service that people need and can afford.
Ash H. Yoon, R.Ac is a graduate of the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a Registered Acupuncturist with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA). After being in private practice for four years, she founded Toronto Acupuncture Studio with the vision to create an inclusive community healing space that makes this medicine available to as many people as possible.
She is incredibly honored to witness the healing and courage of her patients. She is indebted to them, as well as her family, professors, colleagues and friends who continually inspire her on a daily basis.
Daryl Fang, L.Acis a graduate of Chinese Medicine and Human Biology from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. Chinese natural therapies have always been a part of her life, but it wasn't until she developed a serious and seemingly incurable sinus infection in her twenties that lead her to study Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture and herbal medicine cleared her of the infection that three courses of antibiotics could not cure.
During the last six years, she has seen rewarding results using acupuncture to treat various conditions including, muscle and joint pain, insomnia, anxiety, gynecological issues, headaches and respiratory tract infections. She continues to explore ways to enhance her treatments through ongoing studies in Eastern philosophy, meditation and yoga.
Jeffrey Chung, R.Acis a graduate of the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a Registered Acupuncturist with the Canadian Society of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (CSCMA). Since graduating in 2009, he has been refining his knowledge through working in different healthcare practices throughout the GTA. His time spent with patients at fitness centres and with those in recovery from motor vehicle accidents has given him the opportunity to see great success in treating pain conditions and traumatic injuries. His approach is to apply tai chi and qi gong exercises to jointly heal the body alongside TCM and acupuncture techniques. He has been extremely rewarded to witness patients’ progress and joy as they find relief through acupuncture, and honoured to receive peoples' trust in helping them improve their lives.
The Movement
Toronto Acupuncture Studio is proud to be part of the "calmest revolution ever staged," a movement pioneered by our friends at Working Class Acupuncture in Portland, Oregon, to increase patient access to acupuncture in North America.
They started the People's Organization of Community Acupuncture, a multi-stakeholder cooperative whose goal is to make acupuncture available and accessible to as many people as possible and to support those providing acupuncture to create stable and sustainable businesses and jobs. Please check out a mini-documentary about this movement here.
If you're a practitioner interested in learning more about this model, please join POCA. Toronto Acupuncture Studio organizes Community Acupuncture 101 Workshops for practitioners in collaboration with the POCA. We are committed to supporting the growth of more community clinics in the GTA and beyond.
The above picture is of Working Class Acupuncture's map of Community Acupuncture (CA) clinics in the US and Canada. What is arranged on the outside are business cards from almost all of the CA clinics. Working Class Acupuncture's patients can take and send the cards to people they know and love that live in cities across the two countries so they can experience effective Acupuncture, so they can experience relief. A regular at the clinic and I had an excellent conversation a few weeks back. What initially began as Lisa asking how we were doing finding a replacement for our friend/colleague Tracy who recently moved to Vermont to open a clinic, turned into an exchange of ideas that left us both feeling relief from what the other had to share. I'm inclined to recount our conversation in order to make clear to our patients how we work in a particular sense, and why. Read the rest of this entry here
I used to have a complicated relationship with naps, and with rest in general. I was raised middle class and went to public school. The big idea was to get good grades, get into a good college like Harvard, and then live a life of comfort and security. Activism was not high on the list of priorities in my family. I bet a lot of people who ended up going to acupuncture school have a similar story. After all, until the relatively recent CAN revolution, a career as an acupuncturist was overwhelmingly hyped and perceived as a comfortable life where you get to help some people, so the schools tend to attract people who are looking for that, which means a lot of middle class people.
